Looking for a better way to do business has been the cornerstone of OP360’s success. As the founders’ journey reveals, this philosophy has guided their entrepreneurial path for over three decades.
The founders met during their university years, where both were deeply involved in environmental and social justice campaigns. From soup kitchen volunteering to campus greening initiatives and advocating for recycling infrastructure investments, they shared a fundamental commitment: making business a vehicle for positive societal change.
Rooted in 1990s youth culture shaped by emerging globalization and environmental awareness, the founders launched their first social impact venture: Human-i-Tees. This innovative company produced environmentally-themed T-shirts that directly funded youth and community projects.
The business model was elegantly simple yet effective: school clubs sold each shirt for $14, with approximately $5 returning to the school. The remainder covered production costs, shipping, customer service, and business operations.
“All the messaging was about saving species, living lives focused on conservation and reducing our impact,” explains David. “They were all beautifully graphic.”
This revenue-sharing fundraising approach proved remarkably successful, generating over $80 million for school clubs before the company’s sale in 1999.
